Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Blossom.

General Questions

What is Blossom?

Blossom lets you deploy apps with a Heroku-like workflow, managed reliability, and clear infrastructure ownership.

Run your apps on Blossom Cloud with no cloud account of your own, or connect a Cloud Provider Account like DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS, etc. with Blossom BYOC. Either way, we’ll handle building and deploying the app.

Is this like Heroku or Render or Vercel or Fly.io or Railway?

Yes, but with a key difference: Blossom gives you more control over your infrastructure while maintaining the ease of use of these platforms.

Unlike platforms where infrastructure ownership is hidden, Blossom BYOC runs Product-managed infrastructure in your Cloud Provider Account. This means:

  • Lower costs (reduced platform markup)
  • No vendor lock-in
  • Clear ownership and provider billing
  • Support for multiple qualified Cloud Providers
Do I need to bring my own cloud account?

No. Blossom Cloud runs your apps without a cloud account of your own, and its prices include the compute.

If you’d rather keep infrastructure in your own cloud provider account (like DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS, etc.), choose Blossom BYOC. Your provider bills the infrastructure directly, and we’ll guide you through connecting the account. Apps deploy and operate the same way on either.

What cloud providers do you support?

We support major cloud providers including AWS, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Linode, Vultr, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Each provider is integrated with our platform for seamless release and management.

How do you handle security?

Security is our top priority. We follow industry-standard practices, including encrypted TLS/SSL connections and secure credential management. For Blossom-managed VPC networks, we take a security-by-default approach—provisioning managed firewalls even when the cloud provider defaults to more permissive settings.

Billing & Pricing

How does pricing work?

Blossom charges for provisioned Capacity and retained storage. Blossom Cloud rates depend on your chosen provider and region; BYOC has a separate management rate and your provider bills its infrastructure directly. Services sharing Capacity add no separate compute fee.

Scaling a Service to zero releases its reservation. Capacity remains billable until retired, and retained storage remains billable until released. See the pricing page for current rates and a preview of your selected configuration.

Why is the BYOC charge separate from my cloud bill?

Your cloud provider supplies and bills the infrastructure in your account. Blossom operates releases, monitoring, recovery, autoscaling, managed data, and infrastructure automation. Blossom previews its management charge separately from your provider’s bill.

When does billing begin?

Complete billing setup to save a payment method. Charges begin when provisioned resources become billable, with usage prorated by time. Billing setup alone creates no resource charge.

Blossom calculates usage and invoice previews locally. Monthly billing closes at UTC calendar boundaries; qualifying usage may also trigger an earlier threshold invoice. Stripe collects finalized invoices and handles applicable tax.

How can I download invoice receipts?

Open Billing and use Billing Portal to view finalized invoices, payment details, and available receipts. Blossom’s Billing page shows current unbilled usage and its estimate; the Stripe portal does not calculate that usage preview.
